Dr Mahmoud Youssef Baker is an economist, banker and a philanthropist. He was the economic advisor of an international conglomerate in the Middle East with investments in about 30 countries in the Middle East, Africa, America, Europe and Asia. He is one of the founding directors of Albaraka Bank South Africa.
Currently, he is the executive chairman of Iqraa Trust, a non-profit organization that supports hundreds of humanitarian organizations and hundreds of university students throughout South Africa by way of grants and other supporting programs. Dr Baker completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Cairo university, The German Foundation for International Development in West Germany and Columbia University in the city of New York.
